Gambell, and Savoonga

..Strong Winds and Elevated Water Levels Along the West Coast
This Weekend...

A low pressure system moving across the Bering Sea will push a
strong front to the West Coast Saturday. Strong winds, rain
and High Surf will accompany will accompany this front. The
strongest winds will be over the Y-K Delta and Eastern Norton
Sound. Behind the low Northerly winds will develop over Saint
Lawrence Island and the Bering Strait Saturday night into Sunday.
The Highest elevated water levels of 3 to 6 feet are expected
Saturday night into Monday along the coast, primarily over the
Eastern Norton Sound. The Bering Strait, Saint Lawrence Island and
Chukchi Sea Coast will see 1 to 2 feet of elevated water. Heavy
rain will also accompany the front and portions of the Seward
Peninsula, Y-K Delta and Western Interior could see 0.50 to 1.00
inches of rainfall Saturday through Monday morning.


While models are coming into better agreement and confidence is
increasing with this storm system, there still remains some spread
in the strength and the track of this system. Residents should
stay alert for additional updates to the forecast at
