.DISCUSSION...Drier and somewhat warmer weather begins today and
is expected to continue through Sunday. While there are still some
lingering showers moving over the southern Seward Peninsula and
over the Lower Yukon Valley today, highs will be in the upper
50s, rising into the lower 60s by Saturday. Another round of
light showers will move over the southern Seward Peninsula and YK
Delta beginning late Saturday afternoon, keeping the coastal
areas of Norton Sound predominately wet over the next two days.
Otherwise, west/northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph are expected
across most of Western Alaska today, with occasional gusts of up
to 20 mph, especially in areas with any clearing. Winds will
weaken overnight into Saturday before picking up again Saturday
night over the YK Delta and southern Seward Peninsula. Widespread
rainfall will return to Western Alaska Monday into Tuesday.
