.DISCUSSION...
A front is bringing a wave of scattered showers to the West Coast
this morning. Chances of wetting rain are low with this first
wave as showers are expected to be light. A second, stronger wave
will move into the Chukchi Sea this afternoon and into the Western
Brooks Range this evening, bringing heavier rain to the West
Coast and Western Interior from the Western Brooks Range through
the Seward Peninsula. The wave will continue east through Sunday
night into Monday bringing this rain through the Western Interior,
mostly north of the Yukon River. Temperatures cool slightly
behind the front with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Minimum RHs
increase with the rain. Winds will shift to the NW behind the
front with gusts up to 20 mph possible near the Chukchi Sea and
Kotzebue Sound and only up to 15 mph further inland. Another round
of rain comes Wednesday through the end of the week as a new low
approaches the West Coast.
