.DISCUSSION...Thunderstorm activity between Galena and McGrath overnight is
expected to be over by the morning hours, and this looks to be the
last threat of thunderstorms across the area for the foreseeable
future. A ridge of high pressure building from the north will bring
above normal temperatures and dry conditions this weekend. A front
associated with a low moving to the Chukchi Sea will move across the
area Sunday, bringing increasing clouds and showers. Showers will be
most numerous north of the Seward Peninsula, but wetting rain
chances are generally low with the initial front. Southwest winds
will be breezy on Monday behind this front. A second system moving
in Tuesday will bring higher chances for wetting rain from Norton
Sound north while southwest Alaska remains mostly dry. A ridge of
high pressure and drier conditions look to move back in for the end
of next week with high temperatures likely returning to the 70s.
