.DISCUSSION...
One more day of hot...dry and unstable conditions today.
Expect similar fire activity to Saturday in the northwest Interior.
Winds turn more southwesterly today but remain light. Later today
scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will develop across
southwest...mainly south of Galena. Showers and storms spread
farther north Sunday night. Rain is then expected across most of the
west coast and western Interior Monday and Tuesday. There will even
be some rain in the Upper Kobuk Valleys. There will be some gusty
south-southwest winds but the rain and humidity will dominate. That
should clear out smoke and aid wildfire fighting efforts. Wednesday
is a transition to high pressure. There will be some lingering
showers in the northwest. Warmer and drier conditions are
then expected Thursday into next weekend.
