.DISCUSSION...Precipitation will begin to develop in the crest of
the Sierra during the overnight hours, spilling over the ridgetops
and into the Eastern Sierra and Owens Valley on Monday morning.
Precipitation will continue through Tuesday, possibly lingering
into Wednesday. The bulk of this precipitation will fall from
Monday night into Tuesday morning. 1 to 2+ inches of liquid
precipitation are expected across the fire through Tuesday
morning. Snow levels will be above 8,000 feet, so any
precipitation that falls on the lower elevations of the Horseshoe
fire will fall as rain. Minimum relative humidities will exceed
40% Monday and Tuesday afternoons, recovering into the 65 to 75%
range overnight. Surface winds will increase on Monday and Tuesday
afternoons with southeasterly winds in the Owens Valley and
westerly winds in the higher elevations of the Eastern Sierra,
which will likely result in different wind directions in the
higher and lower elevations of the fire.
