...A Fire Weather Watch is in effect from 11AM Saturday through
midnight that night for Nye, Esmeralda, and portions of Lincoln
and Clark counties...
.DISCUSSION...Southwesterly winds ramp up through the weekend,
peaking on Saturday with gusts to around 35 mph across much of the
area. The strongest gusts should occur along high terrain. At the
same time, relative humidity values remain in the single digits
to low 20 percent range. Overnight recovery is poor, especially
west of the Colorado River. The combination of gusty winds and low
humidity prompts elevated fire weather concerns on Saturday and a
Fire Weather Watch has been issued for sections of Clark,
Lincoln, Esmeralda, and southern Nye counties. Winds should
decrease on Sunday and Monday but dry conditions will remain.
