.KEY MESSAGES...

  week.

.DISCUSSION...Today through Saturday.

The downward trend in moisture continues as the low over southern
California draws dry air into the region. Storms today will mainly
be confined to the eastern Sierra, White Mountains, and high terrain
in northwestern Arizona. Gusty outflow winds and small hail are
possible with these storms, but overall precipitation should be
light. Activity will pick up in the afternoon and decrease in the
evening with a lost of surface heating. An upper level low digging
into the Pacific Northwest will help to increase dry southwesterly
flow early in the week, but lingering moisture leaves the potential
for isolated thunderstorms through Wednesday, mainly in northwestern
Arizona.

Much drier air along with breezy conditions are expected Monday
through Wednesday, raising fire weather concerns. There could be
some areas of elevated fire weather conditions across Nye and
Lincoln counties on Monday. However, fire weather headlines do not
appear necessary at this time. Temperatures will increase as
moisture and cloud cover decrease, but highs still remain a few
degrees below seasonal averages. HeatRisk remains in the minor to
moderate categories, levels that primarily affect those who are
sensitive to heat.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Light
winds tonight and Sunday morning will veer to the southeast and
south-southwest through Sunday afternoon, becoming elevated and at
least intermittently gusty. Sustained speeds around 10-15KT with
gusts to 20-25KT can be expected, with gusts diminishing through
late evening. A few mid- level clouds around 15kft are expected
during the afternoon, with showers and thunderstorms not
anticipated. VFR conditions prevail, with temperatures exceeding
100F between 19Z-03Z, peaking at 104F around 23Z.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Winds tonight will
generally remain under 10KT areawide, with another round of
gusty southerly winds expected from early afternoon through around
sunset. Wind speeds around 10-15KT with gusts up to 25KT are
expected, with a couple of exceptions. First, across the Western
Mojave, winds follow diurnal patterns with gusty southwesterly
winds not expected until late afternoon through the evening.
Second, stronger southeasterly winds are expected in the Owens
Valley, with a low chance for thunderstorms across the eastern
Sierra during the afternoon that could impact KBIH with gusty
outflow winds. Otherwise, VFR conditions prevail with FEW-SCT
