Rangeland Fire Danger Statement

.DISCUSSION...Skies will clear out by this afternoon as light rain
showers move out of southern South Dakota. Highs will be in the
upper 50s to low 60s. Minimum humidities will range from the upper
teens and 20s across much of western South Dakota to the mid 40s
across south central South Dakota. Winds will be from the
north to northwest at 10 to 15 mph, gusting to 20 to 25 mph.

...HIGH FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the high category this
afternoon. Unfavorable weather conditions and low moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that there is high potential for a fire to spread.
Outdoor burning should be restricted to early morning
or evening hours when wind speeds are usually lower and the
relative humidity is higher.

The outlook for Wednesday afternoon, The grassland fire danger
index will reach the moderate category to very high category.
