.DISCUSSION...Afternoon highs today will range from the upper 50s
across northwestern South Dakota to the low 70s across south
central South Dakota. Afternoon humidities will drop to 20 to 30%.
Breezy northwest winds will develop across the plains north of
I-90 this afternoon. Sustained winds will range from 10 to 20 mph
and gust up to 30 mph. A system moving through late tomorrow into
Thursday will bring increasing chances for widespread wetting
rains to the region.

...HIGH FIRE DANGER...

The grassland fire danger index will reach the high category this
afternoon. Unfavorable weather conditions and low moisture
content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground,
indicate that there is high potential for a fire to spread.
Outdoor burning should be restricted to early morning
or evening hours when wind speeds are usually lower and the
relative humidity is higher.

The outlook for Wednesday afternoon, The grassland fire danger
index will reach the low category to high category.
