.DISCUSSION...
The arrival of a seasonably hot (90-100F plains/80s highest
elevations) and dry air will bring elevated to near-critical fire
weather conditions to portions of northeastern Wyoming and
southwestern South Dakota today and Thursday. Minimum relative
humidities will bottom out in the teens over the far southwest
today and Thursday. The highest winds speeds will not coincide
with the lowest relative humidities, so we will not issue fire
weather headlines at this time where land managers have told us
fuels are ready for large fire growth.
Isolated thunderstorms will end this morning. Isolated to
scattered thunderstorms will develop later this afternoon and this
evening. Some storms may be severe with the primary threat being
damaging winds, although large hail is also possible. Additional
thunderstorms may occur Thursday night into the weekend as a
slightly more active pattern develops. Seasonally warm
temperatures are expected.
