.DISCUSSION...Around 5 to near 10 degrees cooler than yesterday
with forecast highs today generally near normal. Breezy
southwesterly winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph
expected to develop late morning and persist through the early
evening. Moisture will have modestly increased from the south
bringing minimum relative humidities up to the 15 to 20 percent
range over Santa Cruz and Cochise counties...and 10 to 15 percent
north and west of there. Mountain areas generally in the 18 to 25
percent range...with the exception of the White Mountains being 12
to 17 percent. In areas that remain under 15 percent this
afternoon near critical fire weather conditions are expected with
the increased southwesterly winds. This southerly moisture creep
may also produce an isolated cloud build-up this afternoon over
the Sky Islands. Additional moisture should push in from the east
next week, producing daily chances for showers and thunderstorms
mainly in Cochise, Graham, and Greenlee counties closer to the New
Mexico border. Depending on how moisture moves in, slight chances
may spread as far west as Tucson by mid next week.
