Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Tulsa OK
147 AM CDT Fri Oct 18 2024

...ELEVATED TO NEAR CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS THIS
AFTERNOON FOR PARTS OF NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND FAR NORTHWEST
ARKANSAS...

Grassland fire spread potential will increase again this
afternoon, especially in areas north of Interstate 40 in northeast
Oklahoma, and in Benton and Washington counties in northwest
Arkansas. South winds will gust at 20 to 25 mph at times during
the afternoon, with minimum relative humidities falling between 20
to 25 percent.

Fine fuels and brush have become drought-stressed and increasingly
receptive to ignition. This afternoon`s weather conditions will
promote rapid fire spread.

Avoid outdoor activities that could inadvertently start a fire,
including disposing of cigarettes properly. Report any wildfires
to local officials.

Additionally, burn bans are in effect for Washington, Craig,
Mayes, Ottawa, Adair, Delaware, Pushmataha and Choctaw counties
in eastern Oklahoma, along with all of western Arkansas.
