SEVERE THUNDERSTORM. RISK...Limited. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas. ONSET...Late Afternoon. DISCUSSION... A few thunderstorms may develop by late this afternoon across parts of southeast Oklahoma in advance of an upper level storm system across the southwest U.S. Additional thunderstorm development is expected late this evening and overnight across much of eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. A few storms may become severe, especially late this evening and overnight, with large hail being the main severe weather threat. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Local Spotter Activation May Be Needed. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday. THURSDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Heavy Rain Potential. FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...No Hazards. SUNDAY AND MONDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Heavy Rain Potential. TUESDAY...No Hazards. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... As the upper level storm system moves northeast towards the southern plains Thursday, showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread during the day and continue into Thursday night before tapering off Friday. Locally heavy rainfall remains possible Thursday and Thursday night, which may lead to an increase in flood concerns with time. Again, a few storms may become strong to marginally severe during the day Thursday. AN increase in low level shear toward sunset Thursday could pose a very low tornado threat across parts of SE OK and WC AR Thursday evening as the last round of thunderstorms moves through the area. Another upper level storm system looks to affect the area Sunday and Monday bringing another round of showers and storms along with the potential for locally heavy rainfall, especially across parts of southeast Oklahoma and western Arkansas. weather.gov/tulsa contains additional information. $$
