THUNDERSTORMS WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTNING. RISK...Limited. AREA...Most of Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing through Early Evening...Also After Midnight. DANGEROUS HEAT. RISK...Elevated. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... Widely scattered thunderstorms are ongoing across portions of western Arkansas and southeast Oklahoma, as well as areas west of Highway 75 in northeast and east central Oklahoma. The strongest storms will produce strong wind gusts, possibly marginally severe at times, and brief heavy rainfall. These storms should diminish through sunset. A low chance of additional storms north and west of Interstate 44 in northeast Oklahoma will exist after midnight. Widespread triple digit heat index values continue across most of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas, with values above 105 remaining common. Expect the heat and humidity to improve toward sunset. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. TUESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY...Thunderstorm Potential. FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...No Hazards. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Dangerous heat will continue on Tuesday ahead of weak cold front which will move across the region late Tuesday through Thursday. Thunderstorm chances will increase as the front slowly passes with isolated heavy rainfall amounts possible. Locally damaging winds may also be a concern with storms Tuesday afternoon and evening, as well as late Wednesday.
