This Outlook is for Northwest and West Central Arkansas as well as
much of Eastern Oklahoma.

THUNDERSTORMS WITH DANGEROUS LIGHTNING.
RISK...Limited.
AREA...North of Interstate 44 in Oklahoma.
ONSET...Ongoing.

DANGEROUS HEAT.
RISK...Significant.
AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest and West Central Arkansas.
ONSET...This Afternoon.

DISCUSSION...
Isolated to scattered thunderstorms will persist through about mid
morning this morning, mainly for locations north of Interstate 44
and west of Highway 75 in Oklahoma. Additional widely scattered
showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop late this
afternoon or early this evening, mostly impacting the same
locations as this morning in northeast Oklahoma. A strong or
marginally severe storm cannot be ruled out, but the bigger impact
will pockets of heavy rainfall that may lead to minor flooding.

Triple digit heat index values are expected again by early this
afternoon and will continue into early evening. Most locations
will see peak values from 105 to 109. Take precautions this
afternoon if working or playing outdoors.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
Hot and humid weather will continue each day through the middle
of next week, with afternoon heat index values up to 110 degrees
expected each day. A few thunderstorms may develop this weekend
over the higher terrain of southeast Oklahoma and northwest
Arkansas. An approaching cold front may also raise storm chances
around the middle of next week.
