DISCUSSION...

Dangerous heat is ongoing across the region this afternoon, with
heat indices between 105 and 110 degrees. In the lower Arkansas
River valley over west-central Arkansas, ambient temperatures have
been near 105 degrees with heat indices at or above 110 degrees.
An outflow boundary is moving through that area however, so some
relief will make the heat short-lived there.

Strong and gusty winds can be expected with the isolated to
scattered thunderstorms across the region. Locally damaging
downburst winds are possible.

High heat stress conditions are expected to persist through
Wednesday. Increasing chances for showers and storms are forecast
Wednesday night into Thursday in association with a front. The
front will also provide some relief from the heat as well. Low
storm chances will linger Friday before hotter and drier weather
returns for next weekend.
