DISCUSSION...
High heat stress conditions continue through the afternoon with
heat index values in the 100 to 107 degree range across eastern
Oklahoma and western Arkansas. In addition to the heat, ongoing
drought conditions and breezy southerly winds are leading to
elevated fire weather danger across parts of eastern Oklahoma and
northwest Arkansas.

Isolated storm chances develop this evening in northeast Oklahoma,
mainly near the Kansas border, as an outflow boundary from storms
in Kansas looks to sag into the region. Localized gusty wind
potential exists with any storm development.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
Heat along with fire weather danger will be the main story
through much of the week. Daily heat headlines will continue to
be likely into mid week. A cold front is forecast to move into
eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas during the weekend which
could bring some cooler temperatures along with increasing shower
and storm chances.
