...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM CDT MONDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
Fire weather concerns will increase for Monday as southerly and
southwesterly winds increase and gust up to 35 mph. Have gone
ahead and upgraded the fire weather watch to a red flag warning
and opted to include the entire forecast area. Winds may be a
little more marginal across parts of north central KS, but the
critical nature of the fuels along with RH values around 15
percent lead me to not split hairs over a few MPH in the wind
forecast.

Tuesday is likely to be another extreme fire danger setup as temps
warm into the 80s ahead of a cold front. There should be a little
more moisture advection into east central KS by Tuesday afternoon.
But RH values are expected to still be in the teens to upper 20s as
southwest winds again become gusty. So it is likely that we will
need another red flag warning for Tuesday.
