...Strong and Gusty North Winds...

An Arctic airmass is now surging south through the valleys of
Central and Southwest Montana this evening. In addition to the
falling temperatures a period of strong and gusty north winds can
be expected as the cold airmass is squeezed through the narrow
valleys. Sustained wind speeds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to
40 mph, will occur through the evening hours tonight.

These strong winds combined with any falling or recent snow on
the ground will lead to reductions in visibility. Travelers,
especially those on US Hwy 287 between Helena and Three Forks,
should be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.

Slow down, use low beam headlights, and allow extra following
distance between vehicles when traveling through winter conditions.
