Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North-Central Montana
National Weather Service Great Falls MT
225 PM MDT Tue Aug 19 2025

.DISCUSSION...

After a hot and dry remainder of the day, showers and thunderstorms
look to develop along the Continental Divide this evening, moving
east onto the plains of North-central Montana tonight. Gusty winds
and lightning are the main concern with these thunderstorms.

Wednesday looks to be on the warm and dry side again, though not as
warm or dry as today. Winds do look to be a touch stronger, however.
A round of widely scattered showers and thunderstorms look to
develop Wednesday afternoon, with hail, winds, and lightning all
being a concern.

A cold front then moves through late Wednesday into early Thursday,
which will bring temperatures to near or a bit below average for
this time of the year. The cool down lasts into Friday before the
region trends back closer to average this weekend into early next
week. -AM
