Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North-Central Montana
National Weather Service Great Falls MT
246 PM MDT Thu Jul 30 2026

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
SUNDAY EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible through
the evening hours for portions of Zones 115, 117, 118. Lightning and
gusty, erratic winds will be the main concern with any thunderstorm
that develops. Otherwise hot and dry conditions will continue with
the hottest temperatures expected on Saturday. By Saturday evening
the upper level ridge will be broken down with a dry, cold front
sweeping east across the Northern Rockies. Strong winds will accompany
the front Saturday night into the day on Sunday, especially along the
Rocky Mountain Front. This ridge breakdown will bring elevated to
critical fire weather conditions to all Fire Weather Zones.
