Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North-Central Montana
National Weather Service Great Falls MT
128 AM MDT Sun Jul 13 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Upper level ridging begins it transition toward troughing today into
tonight ahead of a more potent disturbance for early this week. Dry
and hot temperatures remain in place today, though by tonight a few
thunderstorms cannot be ruled out across the Hi-Line.

Monday is the transition day, though will not appear to be through
much of the day for most areas away from the Hi-Line. A cold front
surging southward across the plains Monday afternoon and evening
will transition winds from a more westerly direction to be more
northerly and gusty in nature. Ahead of the front a dry and warm day
is forecast Monday, with conditions quickly transitioning cooler
with higher humidity behind the front. Showers and a few
thunderstorms will be possible along and behind the front before
precipitation transitions to be more stratiform in nature heading
into Monday night.

Much cooler and wetter conditions persist into Wednesday before a
trend drier and warmer develops Thursday into the weekend. -AM
