Issued at 807 PM EDT Tue Jul 29 2025 It has been a fairly active afternoon with scattered storms firing up over the area. The maximum winds observed were around 30-40 mph in the strongest storms. Some storms remain over Hardee and Desoto counties, but things are expected to quiet down overnight with partly cloudy skies expected. The more pressing weather concern was the extreme heat. Winterhaven and Ruskin both hit record highs topping out at 100 degrees and 97 degrees. Widespread heat indices of 113+ degrees were also reported with Tampa International Airport breaking a heat index record reaching 119 degrees. The heat will continue on Wednesday with heat indices exceeding 108 degrees for most of the area once again. This has warranted the issuance of a Heat Advisory from noon until 7 pm on Wednesday. Model guidance has showers and storms firing up again between 16-17Z tomorrow, so will hold PROB30 TSRA at all terminals through 21-22Z. && .MARINE... Scattered showers and storms will be possible each day through the week.
