Surf Zone Forecast
National Weather Service Tallahassee FL
1119 AM EDT Wed Aug 13 2025

.THE SURF ZONE FORECAST GENERAL OUTLOOK...

Early this morning, southerly waves at the buoy located 90 miles
south-southeast of Apalachicola had decreased to 2 feet at 5 seconds.
Further west, the buoy off Orange Beach, Alabama, was observing
southerly waves of 4 feet at 6 seconds. Based on those trends and a
forecast of moderate southwest breezes today, expect a high risk of
rip currents to continue through today and tonight, with highest
confidence further west along Emerald Coast beaches.

Thursday will be a transition day, as surf starts to decrease but
lingers enough along the Emerald Coast for one more day of high risk
designation. From Friday through the weekend, gentle and variable
breezes over the eastern Gulf will support surf heights of only 1 foot
or less, along with great confidence of low or moderate risk
conditions.
