Public Information Statement
National Weather Service Sacramento CA
802 AM PDT Fri May 16 2025

...PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT...

The Sacramento National Weather Service forecast office will be
undergoing a computer upgrade of their systems that require some
regular products and services to be unavailable between Monday,
May 19 and Wednesday May 21, 2025. All other normally scheduled
products and services, including watches, warnings, advisories
will continue uninterrupted. The Sacramento forecast office will
continue regular communications during this time and will be
available for your questions.

Known impacts include:

1) All NOAA Weather Radio (NWR) transmitters serving interior
northern California will be off air. The transmitters affected
are: Redding (transmitting from South Fork Mountain at 162.550
MHz), Grass Valley (transmitting from Wolf Mountain at 162.400
MHz), and Sacramento (transmitting from Fairplay at 162.550 MHz).

Please note that with the NWRs being down, related watches
warnings from the Emergency Alert System (EAS) will not be
transmitted via the NWR and some non-weather radios may be
impacted. Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) that are sent to cell
phones will not be affected and will continue to operate as
normal. Though inclement weather is not expected, it is always
good to have multiple ways to get watches, warning, and weather
information. To learn more visit weather.gov/safety/preparedness.

2) Text products likely to be impacted include the Regional
Temperature and Precipitation (RTP) product, the Daily Climate
(CLI) product and the Preliminary Monthly Climate Data (CF6)
product. The data however for our observational sites will still
be available online.

3) There may be additional impacts to some pages located
off weather.gov/sacramento as well.

We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary suspension of
these products and services may cause.
