Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Interior Northern California
National Weather Service Sacramento CA
123 PM PST Mon Jan 5 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Active weather continues, mainly along and north of I-80 this
afternoon. Additional light rain totals in the Valley and minor
accumulations of snow expected in the higher elevations. Breezy
southerly winds will eventually give way to weaker terrain driven
winds this evening. A weak system is forecast to move into the
area Wednesday with very light rain mostly for the northern
Sacramento Valley and NE foothills, with a dusting to 2 inches of
additional snow in the mountains. Dry weather is then forecast to
prevail as upper level ridging will build across the region.
