Widespread moderate to heavy rain, moderate to heavy mountain snow
beginning today and continuing into next week, as a series of weather
systems move through the area. Highest rain totals are expected in the
mountains and adjacent foothills and the northern Sacramento Valley.
Snow levels start at around 5000 feet this morning, then climb to
6500-7500+ feet later in the day, with total accumulations around 12
to 18 inches above 7000 feet through Sunday. Periods of breezy southerly
winds develop today into next week, with gusts up to 25 mph in the Valley
and foothills, up to 45 mph gusts in the mountains.
