next 7 days, please visit weather.gov/sto/briefing.

.KEY MESSAGES...

 - Drier and warmer weather over the weekend and into early next
   week, with patchy morning fog.
 - Potential for a storm system mid to late next week bringing
widespread precipitation, breezy winds, cooler temperatures,
   and mountain snow.

.DISCUSSION...

...Today Through Early Next Week...

Dry and warm conditions are expected through early next week, as a
ridge builds over western CONUS. Temperatures will be in the low
to mid 70s through early next week, with morning lows in the upper
40s to 50s. Occasional breezy offshore winds during the overnight
hours, with patchy dense fog within the valley. Confidence is low
on the coverage, density, and location of the fog. HREF continues
to show the best chances for patchy fog along the foothills of
the Sierra Saturday and Sunday morning before winds increase and
mix it out by the late morning.

...Mid to Late Week...

Ensembles have continued to trend toward the ridge breaking down
and a deepening trough pushing into the eastern Pacific Tuesday
through next weekend. This brings the potential for beneficial
rain, mountain snow, breezy conditions, and cooler temperatures to
the Mountains, Foothills, and Valley. Confidence remains low on
the timing and duration of the precipitation mid to late next
week. None the less, the system that develops next week is worth
monitoring and watching as it develops and pushes into western
CONUS.

.AVIATION...

Skies will continue to clear through the TAF period, reaching SKC
around 06-09z. Ceilings continue to improve and remain VFR
through the TAF period. Winds will be out of the north through the
evening and go light and variable overnight. Patchy dense fog
will be possible 08-16z for areas along the foothills, but
confidence is low.
