Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Sacramento CA
200 PM PST Thu Nov 6 2025
.KEY MESSAGES...
- Light showers north of I-80 through early Friday morning.
- Dry and warmer weather prevails Friday through early next week
- An active pattern looks to return mid to late next week, but
confidence is low.
.DISCUSSION...
Today-Friday AM...A weak system passing through the Pacific NW
will bring light showers to the northern Sacramento Valley and
adjacent terrain through Friday morning. Precipitation from this
looks to be mostly under a half inch with little impact.
Elsewhere, dry weather is expected. Patchy dense fog could develop
across portions of the southern Sacramento and northern San
Joaquin valleys Friday morning. Any fog that develops should
dissipate by late morning.
Friday PM-Tuesday...Ensembles in good agreement that upper
ridging will build into the area. This will result in dry
conditions and warmer temperatures, mainly in the low to mid 70s
in the Valley. Occasionally breezy offshore winds are anticipated
during the overnight hours.
Wednesday - Late Week...Potential for active weather across
interior northern California as ensemble guidance shows another
system possibly moving into the area, bringing beneficial Valley
rain, mountain snow and breezy winds. Latest runs suggests low
confidence in timing of it. Overall confidence right now fairly
low with this system so please check back with updates on it.
Cooler temperatures are also expected mid to late week.
.AVIATION...
Light showers across the northern Sacramento Valley and adjacent
terrain until around 12z Friday, with local MVFR conditions.
Surface winds generally below 12 kts. Potential for MVFR/IFR
conditions across the southern Sacramento and northern San Joaquin
valleys due to low ceilings and BR/FG Friday morning, mainly
after 08z-12z Friday.
