689 WWUS85 KSLC 260600 SPSSLC Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Salt Lake City UT 1200 AM MDT Sat Jul 26 2025 UTZ121-128>131-281200- San Rafael Swell-South Central Utah- Capitol Reef National Park and Vicinity-Western Canyonlands- Glen Canyon Recreation Area/Lake Powell- Including the cities of Green River, Goblin Valley, Kanab, Escalante, Loa, Torrey, Hanksville, Big Water, and Bullfrog 1200 AM MDT Sat Jul 26 2025 ...Heavy wildfire smoke will impact southeastern Utah through at least Monday morning... Heavy wildfire smoke from fires in northern Arizona will continue to bring significant near surface smoke into portions of the Grand Staircase, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area/Lake Powell, portions of Capitol Reef National Park, the San Rafael Swell and western Canyonlands through at least Monday morning. This heavy smoke may reduce visibility to or below 2 miles at times on area roadways as well as on Lake Powell. The U.S. Interagency Wildland Fire Air Quality Response Program air quality forecast suggests air quality will fall to unhealthy for sensitive groups to very unhealthy for all groups at times through the afternoon into the overnight hours especially across eastern portions of the Grand Staircase and Glen Canyon/Lake Powell. When conditions reach these levels, everyone should consider avoiding outdoor physical activity.
