.DISCUSSION...Moisture will continue to increase through the weekend,
and enough moisture will be in place by Sunday to promote the development
of numerous showers and scattered thunderstorms. The greatest amount of
uncertainty revolves around the amount of cloud cover. A scenario with
lots of cloud cover will keep temperatures lower, and reduce the amount that the
atmosphere is able to become unstable, thus lowering the risk for heavy
rainfall. In this scenario, showers are favored over stronger, organized
thunderstorms. However, more sunshine in the morning and early afternoon hours
will lead to an environment that more strongly favors organized shower and
thunderstorm activity with a higher potential for localized heavy rainfall.
Given the anticipated spotty nature of shower and thunderstorm activity,
rainfall amounts will vary greatly over short distances. Therefore, rainfall
amounts could range from only a trace or few hundredths of an inch up to 0.25"
of rain on the high end.
