.DISCUSSION...High pressure will reside over the area over the
next couple of days, resulting in near-record temperatures and
near-critical minimum RH. On Tuesday, despite overall stable
conditions, clearing is expected to exceed 500 given strong
surface heating. However, closer to the lake, mixing may be more
limited. On Wednesday, an approaching weak storm system will bring
stronger southerly flow persisting through the day, resulting in
excellent mixing and clearing over 1000. Isolated showers and
thunderstorms developing in the afternoon may be capable of
producing gusty and erratic outflow winds at times. After a modest
cold front moves through late Wednesday evening, temperatures
will return to around 5-10 degrees above normal and flow will
shift to northwesterly, with more stable conditions returning in
its wake. Clearing is still likely to exceed 500 on Thursday,
however models have trended a bit more stable; this will be
something to monitor in the coming days. Either way, Wednesday
appears to feature the highest clearing index this week, with
marginal to poor overnight RH recoveries through the week.
