...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM MDT TUESDAY...
.DISCUSSION...Hot, dry, and breezy conditions are expected over the fire
area on Tuesday, with winds switching from a southwesterly flow
to a northwesterly flow as a dry cold front moves through the
area. Poor overnight recoveries from Monday into Tuesday will
allow for a longer time period of relative humidity at, or below,
15 percent on Tuesday. Current timing of the cold front is
expected during the mid to late-afternoon hours on Tuesday, with
the most likely timing of the frontal passage around 1700-1800 but
as early as 1500 (25% chance). Northwesterly winds following the
cold front will continue to gust upwards of 20-25 mph, especially
on higher exposure terrain before sunset. This cold front will
only cool temperatures by about 2-4 degrees as compared to Monday,
rising humidity by only 2-4 percent. Warmer (up 2 degrees) and
drier (RH down 2-3 percent) conditions are expected to emerge on
Wednesday with winds remaining out of the west to northwest with
peak gusts up to 20-25 mph, creating near-critical fire weather
conditions. Humidity is expected to fall back into the single digits
by Thursday, persisting into the weekend.
