.DISCUSSION...The drying trend will continue at the burn site
today, with southwest winds increasing as a trough approaches the
Pacific Northwest coast. Twenty foot winds will be predominately
in the 8-12 mph range with occasional gusts up to 25 mph. This
will be the driest day of the week for the burn, with afternoon
relative humidity values falling into the upper teens. As the flow
moves from southwest to south tonight into tomorrow, it will tap
into deep tropical moisture that will be drawn quickly northward.
Thus, minimum relative humidity values will rise into the 40s.
Naturally, this will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms
during the afternoon, with gusty and erratic winds possible with
any storms that develop. Deep moisture will remain in place
through at least Saturday, with showers and thunderstorms expected
to be most widespread on Friday. Storm total accumulations at the
burn site through the weekend are anticipated to be in the 0.5-1.0
inch range. With the passage of a cold front Saturday night, the
burn will see a chance of light snow accumulations, with up to
two inches possible.
