...WARMING AND DRYING THROUGH THE WEEK, INCREASING WINDS LATE WEEK...
.BROADCAST DISCUSSION...A warming and drying trend will continue
through the week. Minimum humidity will fall into the low teens
to middle single digits late week, with overnight recoveries
worsening across the southern and central area. South winds look
to increase during the second half of the week, bringing an
increasing threat of critical fire weather conditions by Thursday.
.DISCUSSION...Through the next several days, a stout warming trend is
expected across Utah as weak high pressure builds into the region
and introduces a warmer and drier air mass. Through at least
Wednesday, anticipate daily warming of about 2-5 degrees alongside
an average daily minimum humidity decrease of around 2-4 percent.
While the entirety of the forecast area will undergo a warming
and drying trend, cooler and more active weather to our north will
aid in a persistent light breeze (gusts around 15 mph) during the
afternoon hours through Wednesday. The active pattern to our
north shows potential to introduce a weak, dry weather system into
the northern area late in the week. As such, there is potential
for a dry, albeit weak, cold front to pass through at least the
northern area around Thursday evening through Friday morning.
Ahead of this weather system, anticipate an increase in
southwesterly winds, especially across the eastern half of Utah by
Thursday afternoon. This uptick in winds paired with the very low
relative humidity is expected to bring a period of elevated to
locally critical fire weather conditions where fuels are
critically dry. These fire weather conditions may continue into
the late evening hours on Thursday as overnight humidity recovery
in the southern and central area will struggle to reach above 20
percent.
