The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Western Wayne County in southern Utah, Specifically Capitol Reef
  National Park...

* Until 500 PM MDT.

* At 157 PM MDT, trained weather spotters reported a flood wave in
  Sulphur Creek at the Capitol Reef National Park western boundary.
  Between 0.25 and 0.5 inches of rain have fallen to produce this
  flood wave. Flash flooding is already occurring, and will continue
  to move downstream through the Sulphur Creek Narrows within the
  park.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Trained spotters reported.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of normall dry washes,
           creeks, and slot canyons.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Capitol Reef National Park and Fruita.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now. Act quickly to protect your life.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. Dry
washes, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
