The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Central Wayne County in southern Utah...

* Until 545 PM MDT.

* At 253 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing
  heavy rain within the warned area... specifically the area of
  Capitol Reef National Park near Fruita, including Lower Spring
  Canyon, Smokestack Canyon, and Sulphur Creek. The thunderstorms
  producing heavy rainfall are moving downstream along the Fremont
  River. Between 0.75 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Flash flooding
  is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Radar.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of normally dry
           washes, creeks and streams, backcountry roads, and
           slot canyons.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Capitol Reef National Park and Fruita.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Sulphur Creek, Pleasant Creek, Fremont River, Sandy Creek and Deep
  Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
