Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service San Juan PR
348 AM AST Thu Jun 19 2025

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED ACROSS THE SOUTHERN
COASTAL PLAINS OF PUERTO RICO...

Drying of fuels continue across southern Puerto Rico and little to
no rainfall is anticipated once again today. This should lead to
relative humidities dropping near 50%. Wind speeds are expected
to increase by mid-morning under the southeasterly sea breeze,
above 15 mph with gusts near 30 mph. In addition, the KBDI in
Guanica and Cabo Rojo remains above critical fire weather thresholds
(628 and 593 respectively). Therefore, weather conditions should
be favorable for the spread of wildfires along the Southern
Coastal Plains of Puerto Rico.

Fire and emergency officials should be aware that weather conditions
are becoming more conducive for the ignition and spread of wildfires.

Fire danger statements are issued when fire weather conditions
are approaching, but not meeting or exceeding, Red Flag Warning
criteria.
