661 FNCA62 TJSJ 120810 RFDSJU PRZ014-015-018-027-122015- Fire Danger Statement National Weather Service San Juan PR 410 AM AST Wed Feb 12 2025 ...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHERN AND WESTERN PUERTO RICO TODAY... Favorable conditions for fire spread are expected to persist today across the southern coastal plains, southern hills, and western Puerto Rico due to dry soils, available fuels, and below- normal moisture levels. A drier air mass moving through the region will reinforce these conditions, keeping relative humidity values in the low to mid-40s. Winds are expected to strengthen, ranging from 20-30 mph, with higher gusts. These stronger winds will further exacerbate fire danger conditions by enhancing fire spread potential. Skies will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, with temperatures rising into the mid to upper 80s. KBDI values remain above 550, indicating elevated fire risk. Given the expected conditions, a Fire Danger Statement has been issued due to the elevated risk of fire spread. Fire and emergency officials should be aware that weather conditions are becoming more conducive for the ignition and spread of wildfires. Fire danger statements are issued when fire weather conditions are approaching, but not meeting or exceeding, Red Flag Warning criteria. $$
