968 FNCA62 TJSJ 231019 RFDSJU PRZ014-015-018-027-232100- Fire Danger Statement National Weather Service San Juan PR 619 AM AST Sun Feb 23 2025 ...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS EXPECTED FOR THE SOUTHERN PLAINS AND WEST COAST OF PUERTO RICO... Winds are expected to increase today across the region, coming out of the east at 15 to 20 mph, with stronger gusts. Additionally, a drier air mass has move into the islands, resulting in relative humidities dropping into the mid 40s to mid-50s at times. These conditions, along with mostly dry vegetation and soils, will create an elevated fire risk for the southern and western coast of Puerto Rico. These conditions will be more likely between 10 AM and 4 PM AST today. Fire and emergency officials should be aware that weather conditions are becoming more conducive for the ignition and spread of wildfires. Fire danger statements are issued when fire weather conditions are approaching, but not meeting or exceeding, Red Flag Warning criteria. $$
