Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service San Juan PR
535 AM AST Sat Apr 5 2025

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS SOUTHERN
PUERTO RICO TODAY...

Drying of fuels combined with locally strong winds along the
southern coast of Puerto Rico, and the expected drop in relative
humidity between 45%-55% will support the spread for wildfires
today across the southern coastal plains of Puerto Rico. Wind
speeds are expected to range from 14 to 22 mph with possible
gusts up to 30 mph. The KBDI remains just above 630 in Guanica,
supporting an elevated fire risk. Given the expected conditions, a
Fire Danger Statement has been issued.

Fire and emergency officials should be aware that weather
conditions are becoming more conducive for the ignition and
spread of wildfires.

Fire danger statements are issued when fire weather conditions
are approaching, but not meeting or exceeding, Red Flag Warning
criteria.
