The nearshore and off shore Atlantic and Caribbean Coastal Waters-
442 AM AST Fri Oct 18 2024

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Puerto Rico.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

.Lightning...Isolated to scattered thunderstorms possible. Be
aware of thunderstorms in your area and be prepared to take
shelter.

.Excessive Rainfall...Flooding of urban areas, roads, small
streams, and washes. Isolated flash floods possible.

.Excessive Heat...This level of heat affects primarily those
individuals extremely sensitive to heat, especially when outdoors
without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration.

.Marine Conditions...Small craft should exercise caution across
the northeastern offshore Atlantic Waters.

.Rip Currents...Life-threatening rip currents are possible in the
surf zone particularly over northern and eastern Puerto Rico,
Vieques, & Culebra.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

A noticeably wetter pattern will be present during this period.
For the weekend and next week, an approaching cold front and
moisture coming from the Caribbean Sea will combine to generate
additional periods of rain. This will increase the risk of
flooding, mudslides and rapid river raises. Marine and coastal
conditions will also deteriorate due to a northerly swell, with
exercise caution criteria present, and high rip current risk
criteria possibly present on Monday. The risk of rip current will
be moderate for other days. The risk of heat will persist through
the forecast period, except on periods with dense clouds.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is encouraged. Please relay any information
about flooding, winds, waves, and rip currents to the National
Weather Service in San Juan.
