.DISCUSSION...
A weak trade wind perturbation will move across the local area from
later this morning through tonight, resulting in a gradual increase
in low-level moisture. However, for the southwest quadrant of Puerto
Rico the pattern will remain relatively similar to previous days
with mostly fair weather, as most of the expected activity will
remain localized to portions of central and western Puerto Rico in
the afternoon hours. Daytime highs are forecast to reach the lower
90s, driving heat indices between 99 and 107 degrees and resulting
in a limited heat risk. Winds will blow from the east at up to 15
mph with higher gusts, influenced by local sea breeze variations
developing by late morning and continuing through the afternoon. A
Fire Danger Statement has been issued for today through 5 PM AST
across portions of the coastal plains and hills of southern and
southwestern Puerto Rico due to the combination of critically dry
fuels, sustained winds above 15 mph with higher gusts, and minimum
relative humidity values in the upper 40s and low 50s.
