.DISCUSSION...
A strong surface high pressure just north of the region will
continue to promote strong winds across the area today. A drier
air mass will gradually filter over the islands, and the relative
humidity is expected to reach critical fire weather levels
between the late morning and early afternoon hours. The KBDI
remains above 625 in Guanica, and between 330-350 in Maricao and
Cabo Rojo. Given the combination of the expected low relative
humidities, dry fuels, windy and gusty conditions, the potential
for rapid fire spread is elevated. As a result, a Fire Danger
Statement (RFD) has been issued for the southern and western
sections of Puerto Rico.
