.DISCUSSION...
Today, southeasterly winds between 8 - 12 mph and locally higher
areas are expected across the islands. Additionally, temepratures
should slightly increase, remaining above normal. The latest U.S.
Drought Monitor report highlights portions of the southern coastal
plains of Puerto Rico due abnormally dry soils. Additionally,
stations in Cabo Rojo and Guanica reported KDBI values slightly
above thresholds (584 and 570 respectively). Although this area
may expect higher winds (between 12 - 16 mph) and gusts up to 20
mph, minimum relative humidities should remain above thresholds
(57 - 59 %). Additionally, passing showers moved during the night
hours across these areas due to a perturbation in the trades.
Given the current conditions and the expected weather forecast,
the fire danger threat should remain low today.
