There is a high risk of rip currents. Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and signs. If you become caught in a rip current, yell for help. Remain calm, do not exhaust yourself and stay afloat while waiting for help. If you have to swim out of a rip current, swim parallel to shore and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to swim directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly. && $$ PRZ001-002-005-008-180530- /O.EXT.TJSJ.RP.S.0021.000000T0000Z-250818T2200Z/ /O.CON.TJSJ.SU.Y.0012.000000T0000Z-250818T1000Z/ San Juan and Vicinity-Northeast-North Central-Northwest- 526 PM AST Sun Aug 17 2025 ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON... ...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM AST MONDAY... * WHAT...Large breaking waves up to 7-10 feet resulting in dangerous swimming conditions and minor beach erosion. * WHERE...The most vulnerable areas for high surf and beach erosion include Pinones along Road 187, Parcelas Suarez, Villas del Mar, and Villa Christiana in Loiza; Fortuna in Luquillo; Pueblo and Tamarindo in Aguadilla; Barrio Obrero, Pueblo and Jareaito in Arecibo; Las Boca in Barceloneta; Machuca in Manati; Puerto Nuevo in Vega Baja; Ocean Park in San Juan. * WHEN...For the High Rip Current Risk now through monday afternoon.
