Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Angelo TX
153 PM CDT Sun Jul 19 2026

...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM...

.KEY MESSAGES...

- Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible across our
  western our northern counties this afternoon.

- Hot and dry conditions are forecast next week with steadily
  climbing temperatures through the end of the work week.

&&

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Monday)
Issued at 134 PM CDT Sun Jul 19 2026

A few isolated showers and thunderstorms are beginning to pop up
this afternoon over the northeastern Permian Basin and Big
Country. Given the moist airmass in place and remnant outflow
boundaries, expect to see scattered storms continue to develop
through the evening hours. The main hazards with any of these
storms will be locally heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Monday night through next Sunday)
Issued at 134 PM CDT Sun Jul 19 2026

Upper level high pressure will build in over the region for much
of the upcoming week. This will result in a return to
predominately hot and dry conditions into next weekend. Afternoon
highs exceeding 100 degrees are possible from Wednesday onward
especially across the Big Country. Otherwise, expect highs in the
mid to upper 90s each afternoon, with lows in the 70s.

&&

.AVIATION...
(18Z TAFS)
Issued at 1241 PM CDT Sun Jul 19 2026

VFR conditions are expected to prevail across all terminals
through the next 24 hours. There is a small chance for some
patchy stratus to develop again overnight and create a brief
window of MVFR conditions. However, the chances were low enough to
not include in this TAF package. Southerly winds will become
light and variable tonight and pick back up from the south Monday
morning from 8 to 12 kts. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are
possible at KSJT and KABI this evening, but confidence is too low
to include in the current TAFs.
