Early this morning, skies were clear with temperatures in the upper
70s to low 80s across west central Texas.  A 594dam upper-level
ridge over east Texas continues to be the main feature today and
tonight. This ridge should slide eastward and become centered over
the southeastern US by this evening.  Despite this shift, hot and
dry conditions should continue as west Texas is placed under weak
southwest flow aloft with southerly flow at the surface.
Temperatures today should be well-above normal again with highs in
the mid 90s to around 100.  For reference, the record high at
Abilene for today is 101 degrees, which could be tied or broken yet
again. Lows tonight should be in the mid 70s.

(Tuesday through Sunday)

Hot and dry weather will persist across the area for the upcoming
week, as upper level high pressure continues to influence the
region. The upper level ridge will be situated across the southeast
US through much of the weak, with  West Central Texas on the western
periphery of the upper ridge. Highs this week will be in the upper
90s to around 100 degrees each afternoon, with overnight lows mainly
in the 70s.

Models show an upper level trough moving across the Rockies and into
the Plains by next weekend, with a possible cold front moving into
the area by the end of next weekend. Latest guidance is still
showing the potential for some showers and thunderstorms by this
time, along with cooler temperatures, with highs cooling into the
lower 90s by next Sunday, The forecast will remain dry through
Friday, with a low chance (20-40%) for precipitation by next
weekend.

Generally VFR conditions expected for the next 24 hours with the
exception of some scattered MVFR clouds around 2500ft near
Junction this morning. South to southeast winds of 5 to 10 KT are
expected through mid-morning. Winds should increase by 15Z with
gusts around 20KT at most locations before diminishing after 00Z.
