- Heat Advisory in effect for the Big Country through 8 PM.

- Hot and dry conditions through this weekend.

- Not quite as hot for Monday and Tuesday with a few widely
  scattered showers and storms possible.

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Saturday)
Issued at 1234 PM CDT Fri Aug 8 2025

The upper level ridge will remain in control of the weather in
west central Texas through Saturday. Somewhat breezy south winds
will persist through the early evening before diminishing to 5 to
10 mph out of the south/southeast tonight. Lows will be in the
70s. On Saturday, temperatures are expected to cool just slightly,
with highs topping out in the upper 90s along the I-10 corridor
to near 104 degrees in the western Big Country. Heat Index values
should max out near 102 degrees. Although it will still be hot, it
looks like any Heat Advisory readings will be isolated, so will
hold off on issuing a Heat Advisory for now.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday through next Saturday)
Issued at 1029 PM CDT Fri Aug 8 2025

Hot and dry conditions will stick around Sunday as the upper-
level ridge begins to weaken across the region, with afternoon
high a few degrees cooler in the mid 90s to around 103. Please
continue to adhere to heat safety precautions. Another round of
tropical moisture and near normal high temperatures (in the 90s)
are in store for the first half of next week. Expect humid
conditions and increasing potential for isolated to widely-
scattered showers and thunderstorms across the area during the day
Monday and Tuesday.The best potential for brief torrential
rainfall will be across the Heartland and Northwest Hill Country
Tuesday afternoon and evening. By Thursday, the upper-level ridge
begins to build back across the area and kicks-off another gradual
warming trend into next weekend, with high temperatures nearing
triple digits again.

VFR conditions will continue across West Central Texas terminals
through Saturday afternoon. South to southeast winds will prevail
and will continue to be gusty at times, especaily during daylight
hours.
